Rain Rain GO AWAY…Or Maybe Not!

by lynne on Jan.06, 2010, under Life Adventures

image024

Well you would think we lived in Seattle or Vancouver.

OMG the rain is too much even for me at times!

I was born and raised in Victoria and you would think I would be used to the rain by now but some days it is relentless!

We refer to this type of rain as “Biblical Rains”.

Last Monday I came home from walking dogs at the SPCA soaked.

There I was standing dripping in my kitchen as I peeled my wet clothes off.

I was so cold that I could not boil the kettle fast enough for my tea.

To be honest I had my Noni & bHIP together in one big mug of hot water then I had my tea.

I have to admit that when I sat down I was so tired I actually nodded off while curled up on the couch under a blanket watching an old movie.

I had Cujo laying at the door a couple of feet away and Chloe on my lap and the cat laying on the back of the couch.  What a sight.

I think I needed that though.  I fell asleep so quickly it made me realize that maybe, just maybe, the rain could be a good thing.

Why is it we feel so guilty if we sit down for 20 mins and actually turn the TV on.  Why?  We should be doing a bit more of this.  I think we spread ourselves way to thin some days.  No wonder so many people are stressed.  Look at how much we make ourselves do in one full day.  Do you actually take any time what so ever for YOU?

As soon as the sun peeked through the clouds for just a few seconds, it energized me.  It made me smile as I realized that I actually think we do need more rainy days in our lives.  When we learn to take advantage of the rain and kick back for a few hours this is when we will see how rain actually equals sunshine!

So go read a book, or bake some cookies with the kids, lay down and have a snooze, watch an old movie but what ever it is your doing, enjoy it while your doing it.  Because we do not always have this much rain….NOT in Victoria that is.

Cheers

Merry Christmas & Happy New Years

by lynne on Dec.30, 2009, under Family, Humor, Life Adventures, Updates

The year 2010 will soon be upon us!
Where did 2009 go?
There is so much I still have not done yet!
I still have not lost that extra 10 lbs….oh my god I only have 2 more days to do that!
I still have not got under the house to sort out things for that garage sale I say I am going to have!
I still have not decided on what color to paint the house!
Oh right…we started thinking about that  3 years ago, so no worries just yet on paint colors.
What about going through all the cupboards, closets and drawers to de clutter?
We ARE supposed to do that each year, right?
Oh well……….I guess all those things will be there for me to add to my list of things to do for 2010!
So what did I do this past year?

Sean & Moira

Now of course the biggest thing that happened in our life this past year our son Sean being married to a lovely gal Moira.
If you have followed my Blogs, you will have seen their wedding pictures that I posted.
We could not have asked for a nicer Daughter In Law.
They make a great couple.
We are very proud of them.

Our other son Jonathan also has a lovely lady in his life.
You can see both Stephanie and Jonathan under “OUR TEAM”.
They are both One Star Global Leaders with bHIP Global.

I also continue on with volunteer work at the SPCA walking dogs twice a week.
And I even adopted the cutest little dog from there who fell in love with me when I brought her home to foster after she had surgery.
I kept saying to the family…..SHE IS NOT STAYING!
I will take her back in a week or two.
You know, after she feels better.
Well I knew the day Chloe walked in the door she was not going back.
At the SPCA I would walk her with Rebal (a Pit Bull) and Princess (a Rotty) and always ended up carring her zipped up in my jacket.
You see, she is 10 years old and weighs about 9 lbs.
She can always be found right by my side or in my arms.
That was one of my highlights for 2009.

On that note one of the saddest moments was having to have our dog Prince put to sleep.
He suffered all his life with grand mal seizures.
Prince would have turned 12 yrs. old on Dec. 24th this year.
He was put to sleep in May.
That was very hard and we miss him very much.
I have tears in my eyes just typing this.
He was a handsome boy!
Left behind was his sister Cujo.
She is getting on but loves all the extra attention.
Now she is sharing the spotlight with Chloe and seems to be okay with that.

Another sad note for me was my neighbor of 20 years and best friend, selling her house and moving away.
I miss her and her kids dearly.
Thank goodness for Face book , texting, cell phones, Yahoo, MSN and emails.
That way we can stay in touch all the time.
Still not the same, but next best thing.
BTW……where the heck are you Pat????
Another thing that I have done this past year was to take up Out Rigging with my daughter in law Moira.
We have just been involved for about a month or so and are really enjoying it.
Hopefully it will lead to Dragon Boating.
We were fortunate enough to have a gal take us both under her supervision and let us join her team.
Keep in mind most of the team have been involved for the past 7 – 10 years.
So we are very pleased that they would take a couple of Newbies on board to train.
I must say they are a great group of people.
They take it serious but have fun and that is what makes a great team.
I sort of feel I have to prove myself as I “THINK”…(don’t know for sure) but I think, I am the eldest on the team.
YIKES!
You Young Whipper Snappers you!
Does that comment give my age away?

I also joined the gym…..that lastest about 10 mins…lol
Have you ever done a Buns and Abs class?
I have lost my buns and my abs do NOT want to come out to play anymore!
What is a gal to do?

Well to be honest with you I not only joined the Buns and Abs class twice a week (Tues. & Thursdays) I also joined a Core Class on Monday and Dragon Boat Cross Training on Sundays.  All this with the Out Rigging Weds. / Friday & Sunday afternoon.
I sort of let the month of December slip and did not go to all the classes.
However, I am going down tomorrow to sign up again for some of the classes once again.
That is one of my New Years Resolutions.
Which I never usually make.
Reason being is I dont want to break any so I never make any.
I think that is reasonable, don’t you?

Well I could go on but I wont.
If you have made it this far I am impressed!
And I Thank You.
I wish you all Happy New Year and remember, don’t sweat the small stuff  like unfinished business.
There is always next year!

Cheers
Lynne and The Team

You Are What You Eat

by lynne on Dec.03, 2009, under Health Issues, Life Adventures

217_031

We have all heard the saying “You are what you eat”.
When you really think about it, it is not only important that
we understand that comment, but we take it a step further.
WE need to be SELFISH !!
We truly need to take care of our bodies as NO ONE is going to do it for us.
It is up to us to take charge.
Unless we are taking care of ourselves we are no good to our kids, families and friends.
There are a lot of people who depend on us just as we depend on others.
We NEED to think about what it is we not only put into our bodies but how we treat our bodies.
Are we getting the right amount of fruits, veggies, protein and vitamins?
Are we at least trying to do some type of physical activity through the week?
Are we being kind to our self and listening to our body when it tells us we need to rest and relax?
We need to do all this and then some.
We all know this yet why do we not do it?
I feel we really need to go back to the beginning and ask ourselves why?
Why am I not eating properly?
Why am I not exercising on a regular basis?
Why do I feel tired and sluggish?
Why do I just want to get up in the morning eat what I want (or not eat) and then head to work do my job, come home then repeat it all the next day?
I bet a few of those questions sound familar…correct?
So what are you going to do about it?
It is time to take charge of your life and your body.
Dont wait for the New year to begin, do it NOW!
You will feel GREAT  you did.
Have a wonderful day!
Cheers
Lynne

Noni Gia ……. Good for What Ails You

by lynne on Oct.27, 2009, under Health Issues

Refresh and Renew with NoniGia

NEW from bHIP Global

NoniGia is an exciting new product from bHIP Global. It’s a blend of powdered Tahitian Noni juice, pineapple juice and grape juice. It’s all natural and loaded with antioxidants.

Pacific Island

People from the Pacific Islands have been enjoying the health benefits of Noni fruit for over two thousand years. Morinda Citrifolia, the small tree, growing up to ten metres in height, which produces the Noni fruit grows well in the tropical climate of Tahiti.

The 20 to 30 degrees Celsius year round temperatures guarantee good harvests. Tahiti is far from the corrupting influences of global pollution, the water is fresh and pure and with soil enriched from tropical vegetation and the minerals of volcanic activity, there is an ideal environment to grow the perfect Noni fruit.

Noni TreeThe Noni fruit delivers a remarkable supply of antioxidants to help rid the body of harmful free radicals.

Noni Gia (Noni from the remarkable Noni fruit and Gia from the Spanish word “Energia” which means “energy”) is an organic powdered product that comes in a convenient sachet and is easily mixed with water to ‘refresh and renew your being’.

It has never been easier to get the antioxidants you need than it is now with NoniGia.

Through centuries of use as a folk medicine, the Noni-plant has been linked to many health benefits including the following.

  • IMMUNE SYSTEM
  • Strengthens the immune system and builds resistance against disease.

  • BLOOD CIRCULATION, TISSUES, AND CELLS
  • Delivers powerful antioxidants which help to rid the body of harmful free radicals and to increase energy.

  • DIGESTIVE SYSTEM
  • Supports the natural function of the digestive system, improving nutrient absorption.

  • ANTIBACTERIAL AND ANTIFUNGAL
  • The presence of active compounds such as anthraquinones and terpenes helps the body to fight harmful bacteria and fungus.

  • OTHER
  • Enhances mental clarity, increases concentration and maximizes performance.

Your Questions Answered

?: Will there be any “detox reactions” after drinking Noni juice?

ASome people may experience a “detox reaction” in the form of a slight red rash that passes in a few days.

?: When should Noni GIA be consumed for best results?

AIt is best to consume Noni GIA either just before or just after meals.

?: Is Noni GIA safe for children, pregnant women and people with medical conditions?

ANoni GIA is not suggested for children under 10, as their bodies are in development stages and not suitable for excessive nutrient intake. Use a half serving for children over the age of 10. It would be best to consult with your qualified health care practitioner prior to use if you are pregnant, breast feeding, or have any known medical conditions.

?: Who should use Noni GIA?

ANoni GIA is extracted from 100% organic Noni fruits, and has been developed for everyone to enjoy.

?: What makes bHIP Global’s Noni GIA different to other Noni products?

ABecause exposure to sunlight and air can lower the nutritional level of Noni juice, Noni GIA is offered in single-serve packets of concentrated Noni fruit powder. This allows you to prepare a freshly opened packet every time before use to avoid unnecessary nutritional loss. Our Noni whole fruit powder is extracted from organic Noni plants in Tahiti and is completely safe and reliable. This gives a great advantage over the hundreds of other Noni products on the market.
